The new secondary school is a Brainpoort school for gymnasium, athenaeum, HAVO and MAVO where students are directly confronted with the circular economy and energy transition with their educational building. The building is literally an exemplary building and a beacon of sustainability. The Geldrop is located in Brainpoort Eindhoven Metropolitan Region. A region that is characterized by an innovative high-tech industry around TU Eindhoven, including AMSL, Philips Healthcare, NXP, DAF trucks, VDL Bus & Coach, Atos Netherlands, Neways Electronics, Simac, etc.

The building is gas-free and NoM Zero on the meter, both building-related and utility energy is supplied by the PV panels. The building is energy neutral in terms of building-related energy due to its very good insulation. Above all, the building is circular.
The design team's most important and most difficult task was to find a balance between the sometimes conflicting principles. A programmatically good educational environment, a healthy building (Fresh Schools, no temperature rises in June), NOM/energy neutral, environmental impact, climate adaptation (terrain) and biodiversity (terrain) have been linked. That was a challenge.
